Propshop's Aston Martin DB5
With the spectacle to Spectre on the horizon James Bond fever is at its peak now is a good time to be shipping out any 007 related memorabilia and you can't get much more memorable than the Aston Martin DB5 at the end of Skyfall.
The Pinewood Studios-based company, Propshop, who designed a 1/3 scale model of the famous car are touring it around America. Propshop, Aston Martin and EON Productions are delighted to announce that the Limited Edition Aston Martin 1/3 scale DB5 Model officially began its tour of America at this year’s Pebble Beach Automotive Week featuring at the Aston Martin Estate.
Originally made for the final scene in Skyfall, the DB5 Model is an exact copy of James Bond’s DB5, first seen in Goldfinger. James Enright, Asset Producer and Propshop’s Founder: ‘We 3D scanned the original DB5. Then using our 3D printing technology and our traditional modelling expertise, we created a third scale model.’
The DB5 Model first achieved post-Skyfall prominence when one example was auctioned for charity by Christies of London in 2012 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the James Bond franchise. Another of the models has since become a part of the Bond in Motion exhibition at the London Film Museum. The tour car is one of just 100 Limited Edition models. James Enright, Propshop’s Asset Producer and Managing Director said: ‘Given its association with both Aston Martin and Bond, the miniature has become a highly collectable piece’.
The Limited Edition Aston Martin 1/3 scale DB5 Model’s tour began in March, 2015, in London, at the first anniversary of the Bond in Motion exhibition. The American leg of the tour will include Pebble Beach Automotive Week and Aston Martin Beverly Hills with further venues to be announced.
