Rapid Application Group, an additive manufacturing service, has reported that its production capacity has doubled in capacity and throughout after installing 3D Systems’ Figure 4 Standalone system.
The company was founded in 2016, and through the last 12 months has achieved growth of 300%, and continued to build on its additive manufacturing offering. Last month, Rapid Application Group announced it had added two new production materials for its FDM offering, and in 3D Systems has built up a significant partnership. The Oklahoma-based firm owns two sPro 60 HD-HS SLS machines, uses the ProJet MJP 2500 IC, which they intend to bring in-house next year, in collaboration with 3D Systems On Demand. Likewise, they utilise the vendor’s stereolithography (SLA) and Direct Metal Printing (DMP) services as well as MultiJet printing (MJP).
Installing the Figure 4 Standalone in August and using 3D Sprint software, Rapid Application Group has harnessed the system to cater for its customers in the oil and gas, defence, aerospace, motor sports, and healthcare sectors, producing mission-critical and time-sensitive parts. Rapid Application Group says it has doubled its production capacity while reducing its time-to-print process from seven hours to 45 minutes. The company has also began to run a series of manufacturing courses for high school students since the installation of the Figure 4 platform, helping them to learn the fundamentals of 3D printing, as well as helping disabled veterans through a standardised certification course, ‘Veterans to Additive’.
From 3D Systems' Jeff Robins: How Figure 4 additive manufacturing can solve the ‘Triple Constraint’
“The Figure 4 Standalone – including 3D Sprint – truly delivers as promises with outstanding ease-of-use, six sigma repeatability of production parts, and incredible speed,” commented Terry Hill, owner and CEO, Rapid Application Group. “The robust materials and injection-moulding quality surface finish, combined with very quick print times, have helped us double our capacity and throughput. We have already achieved full ROI with this one, remarkable 3D printer.”
“3D Systems partners with our customers, delivering 3D printing solutions to not only transform their manufacturing environment, but helping them grow their business and maintain competitive advantage,” added Phill Schultz, Senior Vice President, General Manager, On Demand and Plastics, 3D Systems. “No matter the size and scope of a business, additive manufacturing can have an everlasting, positive impact on its end-users in more ways than one. It’s a true honour to see our solutions play a multipurpose role at Rapid Application Group.”
3D Systems’ Figure 4 platform is a modular and scalable production system that has been designed to streamline the design and manufacture of parts.
