Shapeways has partnered with ZVerse to integrate its CAD as a Service (CADaaS) platform and simplify the user experience of its 3D printing service.
CADaaS is an AI-driven design platform managed by ZVerse’s network of 3D design experts which receives 3D files, quotes the project, and returns an optimised and manufacturable 3D file to the customer.
The tool has been assimilated into Shapeways’ existing processes to provide an efficient solution to files that have been uploaded but cannot be produced with additive technologies. Users can also have files converted to other formats without leaving the Shapeways website.
“Our CADaaS platform bridges the 3D design gap, which in turn opens the sales pipeline for Shapeways and others in on-demand manufacturing,” commented John Carrington, founder and CEO of ZVerse. “Typically, ODMs reject up to 40% of job requests because customers don’t have the manufacturable 3D files they need. Instead, we turn this gap into business by taking care of their customers who don’t have files or need them optimised and deliver them back through a fast and seamless experience.”
Shapeways is among the leading 3D printing services, leveraging a growing fleet of additive equipment to produce parts in more than 40 materials for customers in an array of industries.
“Our partnership with ZVerse allows us to take our customers relationships end-to-end by fully integrating 3D design services into our platform, ensuring our prospective customers remain within our ecosystem,” added Greg Kress, CEO of Shapeways. “ZVerse’s AI-enabled platform expedites the design process by automating many aspects of the file creation workflow. We ship more than 180,000 3D printed products per month and ZVerse enables us to scale to our customers’ needs.”
