This week Shapeways opened its third 3D printing location in the city where it all began, Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The new 3D printing factory is the largest so far for the company and will allow the it to produce products more efficiently and with plenty of scope for growth in the future.
Taking place in the midst of Dutch Design Week, the grand opening ceremony, featured appearances from special guests Katja Lucas from Dutch Design Week who spoke about how 3D printing and companies like Shapeways are giving designers the tools to push their imaginations and realise their designs.
The team were also joined by the Royal Commissioner Wim Van De Donk who spoke of how positive he felt about the impact of 3D printing in driving the imaginations of designers through this next industrial revolution.

Hallway to new Eindhoven factory.
Mayor of Eindhoven, Rob van Gijzel expressed his thoughts on the significance of Shapeways and 3D printing industry overall in shaping the future of Dutch design, technology and entrepreneurship.
Cutting the rope at the opening ceremony, Shapeways co-founder and CEO Petere Weijmarshausen spoke about the growth of the company from humble beginnings of a small office with one desk and chair to a global network of 150 factories.
Since it launched six years ago, Shapeways continues to be the leading 3D printing marketplace and community enabling designers to quickly turn their digital designs into real 3D products.
