Shining 3D, a Chinese developer and supplier of 3D technologies, is set to launch a new 3D scanner tailored for use in the dental market on September 1st.
The AutoScan-DS-EX, Shining’s fourth dental scanning system, like the company’s other 3D scanning solutions, promises to be a cost-effective, work-space friendly option.
Based in Hangzhou, Shining 3D was established in 2004 and has since grown to become one of the leading 3D printing and scanning companies and China, and one of the most productive manufacturers in the industry. In April, the company expanded its footprint, opening a sales and technical support office in Stuttgart, Germany, and also hinted at plans for a similar location in North America. CEO, Li Tao, and Vice president of Global Sales, Oscar Meza, told TCT of their desire to be a global brand, and at the foundation of that would be the technology it develops.
The latest in a long list of products is the AutoScan-DS-EX. Shining believe the 3D scanner will ‘amaze the dental world’. It is small (260mm x 270mm x 420mm), able to fit on a desktop, and light (5kg), able to be moved from one side of the dental practice or lab with ease. It also boasts a camera resolution of 1,300,000; an accuracy of 15 μm; and has a scanning range of 100mm x 100mm x 75mm. Output can be done via STL and OBJ files.

The AutoScan-DS-EX will launch on September 1st.
Shining is also proud of its modern design, and not least its fully open structure, which allows the user to operate it more easily, and makes possible model placing. Additionally, its detachable modules means updates can be made without replacing the whole machine.
Supporting multiple functions, like articulator scanning, triple-tray impression scanning, and texture scanning, the AutoScan-DS-EX can contribute to a more efficient work flow, and save time by providing optimal data post-processing through LAN networks. Users can also scan and process data on separate computers.
Tao, introducing the sixth new Shining 3D product of the year, is looking forward to bringing the AutoScan-DS-EX to market, citing its vast offerings and competitive pricing.
“The extraordinary dental 3D scanner AutoScan-DS-EX brings incredible benefits to the dental labs and the vocational education of dental technology with its intuitive design and automatic workflow. The most exciting thing is that you can own it at a very appealing price.”
