Chinese 3D printer and 3D scanner manufacturer, Shining 3D, has announced the introduction of its first wireless handheld 3D scanners at IMTS 2018 in Chicago.
The new Wireless FreeScan X5+ and X7+ metrology 3D scanners provide up to three hours of continuous operation and 12 hours of standby time, which Shining 3D believes will make these products ideal for use in challenging large-scale applications in the automotive, aerospace, and mould and die industries.
As SHINING 3D’s first wireless handheld 3D scanners, Shining 3D says its new systems are “redefining the portability of handheld 3D scanners” and giving users an “entirely new 3D scanning experience”.

The scanners incorporate an “AirMaster” wireless computational processor, with a built-in heterogeneous multi-core SOC processor, offers a calculation of image data completely driven by the hardware. Users can benefit from real-time data display direct to a smartphone or tablet, particularly useful when scanning large objects and areas.
The Wireless FreeScan X5+ & X7+ are now available for pre-order with penned to begin as early as November 2018. Visitors to IMTS this week will be able to try out the new systems on booth 135844 in East Hall, level 3 of Chicago’s McCormick Place.
