SLM Solutions has opened a new application centre in Shanghai to support local customers and help grow the market in Asia.
It comes as the company expands the facilities in its Chinese head office which it established back in 2015. With the application centre now in place, SLM Solutions staff will be able to work side by side with customers to help implement its selective laser melting technology successfully.
The new facility will be housed with four additive manufacturing systems which comprise of one SLM 125, two SLM 280, and one SLM 500 platform, as well as post-processing stations, a metallurgical lab, and powder storage and operation capabilities. There is also expanded capacity for calibration equipment, spare parts storage, and of course, a customer support team.
SLM Solutions opened the facility earlier this month, welcoming a host of customers, industry contacts, and local government representatives to mark the company development and share success stories and insight. The leadership at SLM Solutions is confident the new set-up in Shanghai will enhance the relationship between itself and its local customer base, and ultimately lead to better implementation of additive technology in the region.
“China is a growth market for us as the manufacturing sector is continuing to transform with industrial selective laser melting applications,” commented Meddah Hadjar, CEO of SLM Solutions Group AG. “This new office not only continues our commitment to the Chinese market, but also provides more resources for our local experts to support customers, ensuring they are successful and facilitating their innovation.”
“As we continue to grow our Chinese team, the opening of our Shanghai Application Centre is an important milestone in SLM Solutions’ development and indicates the confidence in the Chinese market,” added Jerry Ma, General Manager of SLM Solutions (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. “As part of the global strategy for growth we have the capacity to more than double our number of employees and the equipment to support all Chinese users with the technological resources shared by our applications centres around the world. We can also provide high-quality, fast technical services to better promote the development of selective laser melting and create more value for customers.”
