Fenner Precision's belt for 3D printers
The belt improves accuracy, is quieter and more efficient than current belts on the market.
The Fenner Group are a company that have been providing engineering solutions for over 150 years, starting with one man making leather fire hoses and graduating to over 5,000 employees as a world leader in reinforced polymer technology.
Last year the Fenner Group, through a subsidiary Fenner Drives, stealthily (which is apt) entered the 3D printing market with an incredible product that had been developed for in house use, NinjaFlex 3D Filament. The flexible yet strong filament has fast become the flexible filament of choice amongst 3D printing’s more knowledgeable customer base.
Mike Garey of one-legged duck Buttercup fame told TCT in an interview that if it wasn’t for NinjaFlex he’d not have been able to 3D print Buttercup’s prosthetic foot in the first place.
Now it is the turn of another Fenner Group subsidiary to enter the 3D printing market. Fenner Precision specialises in improving products and processes, and they’ve targeted the 3D printers themselves with a unique timing belt design that provides high-accuracy, low-maintenance linear motion solutions for printers.
The FHT profile timing belts are suitable for both DIY printers such as RepRap machines and are a solution for manufacturers of higher end consumer machines. The belts deliver smooth, quiet operation for the critical linear movement and positioning functions.
The company is offering technical support and is committed to building successful engineering partnerships with OEM customers. FHT timing belts are offered in various durometers, sizes and reinforcements such as Kevlar, polyester, and fiberglass to meet the customer's specific application needs.FHT Urethane Timing Belt advantages include:· Positive, no slip synchronization· Extreme accuracy· Smooth, quiet operation· Clean, non-dusting performance· Long, low-maintenance life
NinjaFelx was created by Fenner Drives to suit specific in-house needs, they realised the product was so good that it might have mass appeal in the market. It would appear that this development from their sister company may have been born the same way. Regardless of its development the Fenner Group pride themselves on their quality and are another huge company to enter the 3D Printing fray.
