Magigoo
Maltese start-up Thought3D has introduced MAGIGOO, an easy to use 3D printing adhesive that addresses the common ‘first layer not sticking’ problem for 3D printers.
Often when 3D printing, the first layer can have become detached from the print bed which on top of being incredibly frustrating, can lead to the print spoiling itself. MAGIGOO is designed to combat that by providing a firm foundation for the first layer of a print in ABS or PLA filament.
Similar to existing 3D printing adhesives, MAGIGOO comes in an easy to use applicator, for simple application to the build plate. Once dry, users can commence printing. In what Thought3D is calling MAGIGOO’s ‘double whammy’, the paste is also designed to release the 3D print once the build plate has cooled down.
“MAGIGOO helps combat 3D print warping – a recurring problem in 3D printing. It is extremely rewarding to have a 30-hour print complete without any warping and having it release easily once cooled,” the team explains.
Thought3D recently secured €15,500 seed funds from Malta’s Take Off Seed Fund Award for the commercialisation of its MAGIGOO product. Production will commence next month.
Thought3D also offers 3D printing and 3D scanning services to help individuals take their concept from idea to prototype. The company also provides 3D modelling services and even casting.
