TriFusion Devices, a 3D print technology company serving the healthcare and sport industries, is forming a partnership with Standard Cyborg to create modern solutions for the orthotics and prosthetics biomedical sector.
Standard Cyborg, also heavily involved in the healthcare industry, provides a modern software platform for the creation of prosthetics. TriFusion is hoping to combine its own high-quality 3D printing capabilities with Standard Cyborg’s state-of-the-art software platform, Design Studio, through this new collaboration.
Hoping to add to the revolutionary impact 3D technology is having on the production of prosthetic limbs, the two companies offer a platform which will improve cost performance and delivery time, compared to the more traditional artisanal process. Those in need of prosthetics or orthotics will have their limbs scanned by a certified clinician, armed with an iPad-mounted scanner. Using Standard Cyborg’s scanning and design technology the clinician will create a custom-fit geometry, perfectly suited to the individual patient.
Here, the 3D model is sent to TriFusion Devices where its proprietary processes create a 3D-printed diagnostic. This is then shipped to the clinic, typically within just a few hours, where the device is fitted to the patient by the clinician.
“It is TriFusion’s mission to bring freedom to people around the world,” said Blake Teipel, TriFusion’s President. “This partnership will extend our reach and allow us to be part of a solution that brings both freedom of mobility and financial freedom to individuals in every part of the globe.”
Working towards this goal since its foundation, TriFusion Devices has won several awards nationally and internationally, for its breakthrough materials and 3D printing technology. TriFusion’s patent-pending materials and printing technology have contributed to a new direction for prosthetic devices. They have also offered O&P clinics 3D-printed solutions that finally work, allowing clinicians to see more patients while reducing operating costs. In October 2016, the company was acquired by Essentium Materials.
TriFusion’s new partner, Standard Cyborg hopes its software programme can enhance the production of prosthetics on a global scale. The company was born from Y Combinator, and was backed by a variety of investors as a start-up. Standard Cyborg’s intuitive software is being increasingly recognised as per the company’s growing number of partnerships with prosthetics clinics.
