Zortrax has launched the M300 Dual, a desktop 3D printing system with double extrusion capabilities.
The company’s latest machine is an upgraded version of the M300 Plus, allowing users of the platform to print water soluble support structures, rather than using the same material as the model and removing the structures manually.
It also features improved material end – jam detection with the aid of a built-in camera, which works to improve the consistency and quality of prints. If the spool runs out or a jam is detected, the user will be notified and the print paused. A blackout response system with built-in capacitors, meanwhile, keeps the printer operational until the exact stage of progress is saved during a power outage. In this event, once the power is returned, the user will have the option to resume the print or start the job again. The machine boasts a build volume of 265 x 265 x 300 mm and all Zortrax materials are compatible, with a range of third-party filaments also supported by the M300 Dual.
Zortrax will make the machine available in mid-2019 at a price of around €3,990, and believes the M300 Dual is a stepping stone towards offering ‘industry-standard’ printing in a desktop machine format.
“The dual-extrusion system and large workspace allow industrial-standard detailed and complicated printing, while maintaining the characteristics of a desktop printer,” commented Rafal Tomasiak, CEO of Zortrax. “Our goal is to transfer the possibilities offered by an industrial printing to smaller, more user-friendly devices. The new M300 Dual is another step in this direction. We have created a comprehensive system enabling users to work using Zortrax devices.”
