Voxel 8 have launched their Developer Kit at CES 2015
We’ll no doubt see plenty of new and exciting developments in the 3D Printing Marketplace at the 2015 International CES, but one we’re particularly looking forward to in particular is that of Voxel8.
We reported on Voxel8 a while back as our interest was piqued by, of all things, a LinkedIn notification suggesting that former Z-Corp CEO John Kawola had joined a 3D printing start-up out of Harvard University. Before the Christmas break we spoke to co-founder of the project Daniel Oliver about the launch:
“Our goal is top bring new material sets to 3D printing that really allow. Fixed material printing is interesting and has done wonders for prototyping, the introduction of metal 3D printing has really started transitioning towards manufacturing en-use products but what we think is really interesting the idea of combining a number of different materials together that allow you to embed functionality, such as electronics inside of objects.”
Voxel8 are launching their developer kit here at CES 2015, the developer kit is the multi material print that combines FFF printing of PLA with a syringe system that prints with Voxel8’s proprietary Silver Ink – no ordinary conductive ink a decade of research from the Lewis Group that has created a conductive ink 5,000 times more conductive than other carbon-based inks (e.g. Bare Conductive)

Leveraging a decade of material science from Harvard Voxel8 have launched their Silver Ink.
“The material science is really the innovation here. We’re excited to bring online Jennifer’s whole palette of materials that she has developed.” Explained the co-founder “The first material we’re releasing is the Silver Ink, which had to be printed at room temperature and work with other current 3D printing technologies.”
This is just the start of the project and the experience somebody like John Kawola brings to the table in terms of commercialising a university research project means Voxel8 are to be taken very seriously.
