Frank Cooper, Senior Lecturer in Jewellery Manufacturing Technology and Manager of the Centre for Digital Design and Manufacturing at the School of Jewellery, uses 3D printing in his jewellery making and designing lectures. Students can choose whether or not they wish to learn and implement it into what they study and design, but Frank states that you cannot ignore 3D printing and the opportunities its provides for designing personalised and customised jewellery in a reasonable, cost effective way.
Cooper says, "The young people that have come to us now, are hugely informed, they have got more than a passive idea about 3D printing, so we are not starting on a base line’’.
