Joe Wilker at Mazak, world leader in CNC machine tools, talks to TCT at RAPID 2016 about the company’s first ever HYBRID technology to feature industrial additive manufacturing capabilities.
First introduced in 2014, the INTEGREX i-400AM machine is a HYBRID Multi-Tasking system featuring both multi-task and additive capabilities all in the one machine. With this added additive capability, manufacturers can easily generate/clad near-net-shape component features and finish them with high-precision machining operations.
“We see this as another tool in the toolbox,” Joe, explained. “We’re going to be able to develop products that have never been developed before, like mixing different alloys in one part and doing repair work that’s never been done before in one machine.”
