InSight L100 laser scanner.
Nikon Metrology has introduced its latest CMM laser scanner, the Nikon InSight L100 offering its most advanced combination of speed, accuracy and ease-of-use to date.
The scanner has been designed to deliver superior accuracy for inspecting large components with a 100mm wide Field-of-View combined with a data acquisition speed of 200,000 points per second.
To facilitate manual scan path programming, the InSight L100 features a brand new full Field-of-View (FOV) projector to ensure good part coverage.
The groundbreaking InSight L100 features a glass Nikon lens, optimised for laser scanning and combined with a high definition camera that enables a point resolution of 42 μm.
The device can cope with a vast range of surface materials, finishes and colours without the need for user interaction, manual tuning or spraying. Nikon Metrology’s fourth-generation Enhanced Scanner Performance (ESP4) technology adapts the laser intensity for each point in the scan line to varying colours or materials faster than ever. This makes the scanner even more robust for capturing multi-material assemblies or shiny surfaces.
The scanner also benefits from a patent-pending integrated mount rotation that can rotate up to 90 degrees, particularly useful for measuring rubine blades or parts with vertical features.
Once scanned, the entire part is checked to CAD model where any areas of concern are immediately highlighted using colour mapping. Further investigation and analysis is possible using fly-outs, sections and a library of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
For complete optimisation, the InSight L100 scanner can be combined with tactile probes and change rack to create a versatile fully automated multi-sensor CMM. It can also be retrofitted with other compatible CMM probes.
