One of the latest additions to the TCT Show, 3D digitising enterprise Shining 3D Tech, has been given the exclusive rights to produce the mascot for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics.
Introducing, Mascot ‘Lele’ a pebble like character or more specifically, a Rain Flower pebble, made up of four colours, yellow, blue, red and green, to symbolise different personalities.
The Hangzhou based company has been granted the rights to produce prints of Lele for commercial purposes who has been the face of the event which began on August 16th and will close on August 28th.
The mascot has been produced using both SLA and FDM 3D printing techniques and in total more than 30 different designs have been made to represent each sporting event at this year’s Youth Olympics.
Lele has been given a very a personality of its own with a fact list that tells us the character’s birthday, Chinese Zodiac sign and even blood type. Lele is also a Sagittarius and has a Chinese nickname which translates to Small Stone.
Fans of Lele with access to a desktop printer will have access to several versions of Lele which are available to download from Thingiverse. Designed to be printed on Shining 3D Tech’s Einstart Desktop 3D printer, the marketplace offers six different versions of the model including Table Tennis, Boxing and the original design.
Shining 3D Tech will be at this year’s TCT Show at the NEC in Birmingham demonstrating the impact Asia Pacific is having on the 3D printing industry. The event runs from September 30th until October 2nd and will be the 19th TCT Show to date with an audience of 10,000 people.
