The 3D world seems set on inflating our ego what with the FabCafe’s gummy and chocolate version of ourselves HotPop Factory’s kissing booth, and Resoluut’s super hero figurines. There’s a constant stream of 3D printed visions of ourselves and 3D Systems are picking up were Resoluut left off with their new service 3DMe.
The service available on their Cubify.com site is available at a cost of $64.99 and allows users to create a photo-realistic 3D model of themselves in a selection of poses from a soccer player to a sexy nurse! The figurines are 5.5inches in height and having been printed on 3DSystems’ ZPrinter 650 are full colour with a ceramic like feel.
"We are thrilled to put this capability into the hands of our Cubify community," said Sarah Stocker, Senior Director Cubify, 3D Systems. "Now everyone can create a fantasy version of themselves, celebrate a loved one's achievement or just have fun, with a personalized full color statuette, just by uploading a couple of photographs."
