The BEETHEFIRST BEEPACK
When TCT received a BEETHEFIRST 3D Printer from BEEVERYCREATIVE (supplied to us by Hawk3DProto) one of the first things we commented on was how excellently the item was packaged. Commenting:
“The first thing that impressed me about the printer was the packaging, previous packaging of printers reviewed had been a little ad-hoc (sometimes leading to vital parts breaking in shipping) but the packaging from the Portuguese start-up has been meticulously planned. From the moment you slice open the box to be greeted with a friendly branded poster to the second you slide the machine out of the final piece of packaging to find a hidden compartment complete with all the peripherals one would need, you know that packaging has not been an afterthought.”
A recent press release from BEEVERYCREATIVE reveals that more thought had gone into that packaging than first meets the eye. BEEVERYCREATIVE are very keen to stress the portability of their printer and in order to achieve complete portability they turned to industrial product designer Pedro Sootomayer.
The brief for Sootomayer was to create packaging that was lightweight, functional, durable enough to go through years of use and follow the aesthetic qualities of the BEEVERYCREATIVE brand.
On a previous project Pedro had used a product called APPRO by JSP, a multi-industry global supplier of polystyrene and polyethylene and decided that this high-strength new material would be perfect for the BEEPACK.
“ARPRO’s ability to be moulded into 3D shapes allowed me to not only create packaging that could hold and protect the printer, but also reflect and become part of the whole identity of the product. The possibilities offered by the printer were mirrored in the ARPRO mould and provided a sleek and stylish, yet practical packaging solution.” Remarked the industrial product designer.
“ARPRO is also an excellent energy-absorbing material that can withstand multiple impacts without damage to the printer inside. Therefore, its lightweight and exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio made it the perfect choice for this particular application, especially as it could secure the printer and its accessories into position in one easy-to-use unit.”
The BEEPACK and the BEEVERYFIRT’s portability are key selling features of the 3D printer and their CEO Diogo Quental was delighted by the material and the packaging from JSP stating, “The 3D printer market is still a growing and evolving industry and so ARPRO aided us in finding a solution that not only provided a compact and appealing, but also allowed us to produce small quantities of the BEEPACK without incurring huge costs. The carrier case enhances the printer’s portability even further, allowing each individual user to take with them everything they need to print, from spools to cables.
“Our printer prides itself for being easy to use, easy to transport, and easy to live with. BEETHEFIRST is a perfect 3D printer for today’s world and the BEEPACK complements it perfectly. It comes ready to print out of the box, with no need for further steps other than unpacking to prepare it.”
It might not be something you often consider when you get a new consumer product and might even be something you discard but this illustrates the amount of thought some companies put into packaging.
