Last week’s DBA Design Effectiveness Awards saw Gold Awards for BIDA members Alloy and LA Design.
The companies were recognised in the unique awards that celebrate designs that make a difference to people’s lives, public services and businesses.
Alongside the Gold Award, Alloy picked up the Sustainability Award and The Grand Prix for its work on the BT Hub 5 integrated wireless modem, whilst LA Design won for Touchline Flags’ referee’s electronic paging system.
“Alloy’s Innovation brand is all about collaborating with clients to deliver great results, which is why we love the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards,” Alloy Chair Gus Desbarats commented. “This is the first time we have won three in one night, so it’s very special, for the whole team at Alloy and our BT partners. Another Gold was great but I’m especially proud of our Grand-Prix. It is a testament to the growing importance of Industrial Designers to the delivery of top class brand experiences”
The winning Hub 5 was driven by a brief that required solutions to several customer issues that could be resolved through design interventions. One overriding feature was that the device must adhere to BT’s postbox service by fitting through a letterbox inside its postal packaging. This was a crucial factor as it allows BT to reduce CO2 emissions and improve customer installation experience.
As BIDA members, the companies principally work in the fields of support, service and interaction design for clients ranging from SME’s to international brands.
