Thingiverse ear adapters
Modular approach allows series of smaller pieces to snap to fit. Simplicity.
Sometimes you see a 3D printed product that is probably not that useful in the real world, but for some reason still makes you think: "I want that!"
These 'ear adapters' from Thingiverse user Jckarich are a perfect example of that! I can't imagine that the sound quality is all that great once the little in-ear buds are moved away from the ear canal, but maybe that's not the point here.
Jckarich explains: "I’m probably not the only one who thinks in-ear headphones are not the more comfortable but more important than this is the fact that is headphones allow you to isolate from the rest sometimes but what if you could decide either {to} use your headphones inside or over you ears? {You} could still be hearing what happens around you and still listening to music at the same time. This adapter can hold you in ear headphones just a little over you ears, and the shape intents to be open to ambient sounds so the will mix in with the music."
This could be great for anyone working an office or shared workspce that a) wants to listen to their own music and b) still wants to be easily to approach by colleagues. Nothing says 'don't talk to me' like headphones with music blaring.
Head to Thingiverse, get the STLs and give them a whirl — report back in the comments section if you do!
