Creat3D and their swissPen
There was plenty to see on the show floor at TCT Show + Personalize, from Velociraptor skeletons to Manchester United figurines. Stands were ten deep at times and one stand that drew a great deal of interest from the consumer side was CREAT3D a new UK company with some lofty ambitions.
Not only do they sell the 3D Systems CubeX series but their now selling the swissPen, a 3D printing pen to rival that of 3Doodler. Every time you walked past there was a queue of people oohing and ahhing at the sight of a regular looking pen drawing 3D shapes freehand.
The guys behind CREAT3D are taking ideas from the show floor and putting them into practice “Day one was manic! We had so many people coming up to the stand and going ‘Wow that’s one of those pens’ but then we also get people who are interested in using them to touch up 3D Prints.”
There’s also been a lot of interest from the Brigjht Minds school kids that have been shown around, although the guys at CREAT3D don’t recommend it for the under 12, it is an accessible entry level into 3D Printing, priced at just £82 you can’t argue with that.
You learn many things at the stands of TCT, one thing we didn’t know is that CREAT3D are now a reseller of the much discussed botObjects ProDesk3D. The team tell us that they’ve had parts from the machine that look great and that the allusive printer is on track for their October launch.
You may or may not have followed the saga of botObjects on twitter, but we have been invited to three different demo days now each of which have been postponed. Out of fairness we’ve not commented on this, but CREAT3D seem genuinely excited about having one of the most talked about 3D Printers of recent times.
We’d recommend the guys at CREAT3D, their online store is well structured; selling the printers and the materials to go with it, prices and postage are clearly defined and most important of all the team are friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
