Google Glass: GlassKap
It is hard to know which is the most hyped technology at the moment is it Google Glass? Is it 3D Printing? Or is it crowd-funding platforms? All three vie for column inches and get us geeks of this world hearts’ a racing. So what happens if you combine all three?
That’s exactly what Todd Blatt has done as he launches a Kickstarter campaign flogging his 3D Printed add-ons and accessories for Google Glass (I think my keyword count just exploded!).
Todd was featured here on Personalize not so long ago as he showed off his Google Glass to 3D scan technique. His latest project is about creating a Google Glass code of conduct to increase etiquette whilst wearing the headmounted smartphone of sorts.
One of the products in Todd’s GlassKap range is a lens cap to show people that you’re not just filming them for no good reason - one of the mainstream press’s main worries about the tech – and another is quite the opposite a “On Air” sign to alert people to the fact that you are recording their every move.
Along with other less privacy orientated add-ons, such as pencil holders and crosshairs, the GlassKap range has already proved quite the Kickstarter success as it reached its $1500 goal with eleven days remaining.
Todd will be using Shapeways to print and ship his products and the funding is to make his designs a reality. Fair play to Todd who seems genuinely trying to add a level of privacy to a product by a company who notoriously aren’t that driven by privacy.
