Jenny Wu - Papilio Ring
Jewellery designer Jenny Wu has announced her first 3D printed jewellery collection in collaboration with Stratasys.
The designer and architect of Olyer Wu Collaborative a firm which specialises in experimental and progressive projects, will release a collection this autumn entitled ‘LACE’ compromising of 3D printed wearable’s inspired by line-based geometry and organic movement.
"From my 15 years' experience with 3D printing for architectural projects, I knew it would deliver the capabilities to realise my creative vision for jewellery,” Jenny Wu explains. “3D printing offers an elegant aesthetic and enables different layers and densities of fine and detailed pieces to be intertwined and produced within hours instead of months."
A key piece from the collection in the Tangens necklace which features interlocking elements created with Fused Deposition Modelling technology on the Stratasys Fortus 400mc Production System.
Wu has also worked with Stratasys subsidiary Solidscape to produce the Papilio ring, a piece which reflects the movement of a butterfly wing. Printed using Solidscape’s MAX2 3D Printer, the ring was then cast in sterling silver and hand finished.

It encourages us to keep pushing more boundaries with our 3D printing technology.
The LACE collection will be available Autumn 2014 from jennywulace.com.
