Introducing Elasto Plastic 3D printing at Shapeways
"Elasto Plastic is the first 'Maker Material' to be introduced to the range of 3D Printing materials to Shapeways. In this video Duann shows some of the material properties to test it's impact resistance, flexibility, elongation, water tightness and, sets it on fire."
Makers may have a spring in their step if they have heard about the latest offering on Shapeways.
The online maker marketplace and community announced yesterday (May 30th) that 3D printing has been given a fresh twist thanks to Elasto Plastic, which has bounced onto the site for 3D printing fans to play with.
The material is flexible and rubbery and can be used in myriad applications from springs to footwear.
Shapeways claims it is the first of its Maker Materials, which will make it easier for creators worldwide to gain access to the newest 3D printing materials on the market and the site is seeking the community's feedback on the materials.
And if the announcement of Elasto Plastic is not enough to get those creative juices flowing then makers are in for a double whammy of excitement, as Shapeways has announced the launch of its new Custom Ring Creator app.
The program allows anybody to make their own sing in minutes, giving users the chance to personalise existing designs or create a piece of jewellery of their very own from scratch. For this week's 3D Printspiration, Shapeways is also highlighting some of the community designs makers can tweak and customise to their own idea of perfection.
