Last week, in our Land of MAKIE Believe article we hinted at some big news in time for Christmas “We’ll have an announcement shortly but we’re working on something very exciting with a leading retail outlet in time for Christmas, but you'll just have to wait and see.” Director of Commuications at MakieLab, Jen Bolton told us. What we were actually not allowed to mention at the time was that said “leading retail outlet” was Selfridges.
Fresh off the back of the announcement that iMakr will be opening a 3D printing pop-up shop in the department store, MAKIE Dolls will also making a festive appearance.
In a press release yesterday iMakr announced that they would be opening its first pop-up shop in the flagship Oxford Street store. The pop-up , on the ground floor from October 24th until the end of 2013, will feature a selection of the current crop of consumer printers as well as an in store 3D body scan-to-print service.
Founder of iMakr, Sylvain Preumont said “Since the opening of iMakr Store, two months ago, we have received numerous requests for partnership. I’m delighted to bring 3D Printing in Selfridges, an iconic, vibrant, luxurious and innovative department store.”
The Makie dolls that will be available in the Selfridges Christmas Store from August 5th are a brand new limited edition series of Makie dolls called Makies Fashion Mavens. The series consists of four creative and stylish character dolls (see picture to the left). Each doll is hand finished and comes with its own bespoke handmade fashion and a Certificate of Creation.
