If you want full colour 3D models without post production the only way you’ve been able to do it for a while now is with an Mcor IRIS 3D Printer.
The Irish firm have literally been pulling up trees with their 3D printers that use standard reams of office paper to create beautifully complex models. The process is similar to that of the ABS/PLA extruding 3D printers, instead of putting plastic down layer by layer it puts paper which is then coloured with ink creating fully 3D models.
Half of the Personalize team are at the Inside 3D Printing Expo in New York, and they’ve brought news of an exciting new development that Mcor Technologies have now released software to make the full colour 3D printing process even easier, ColourIT.

ColourIT applies colour to the 3D digital files prior to slicing them in Mcor’s slicing software SliceIT. ColourIT is compatible with numerous file formats, including, STL, WRL, OBJ, 3DS, FBX, DAE and PLY. After the colour is applied, the model is exported as a WRL file, which is then imported into SliceIT for preparation for 3D printing. ColourIT can also check file integrity to ensure the 3D model is a waterproof manifold.
