Nanoscribe's Nano Hellcat
There’s been a buzz about Nanoscribe’s Photonic Professional GT 3D printer for micro and nano-structures since it was unveiled at last week’s Photonics West trade fair in San Francisco.
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) spin-off company have been showcasing the prowess of their GT model (just like with cars GT means FASTER!) with a real-time video printing a Wing Commander Hellcat. The spaceship is about the width of a human hair or 125µm x 81µm x 26.8µm to be precise and took just under 50 seconds to complete.
We brought you news of Vienna University of Technology experimenting with the two-photon lithography printing technique last year but this is taking it to a whole new level.
Now don’t worry this spaceship won’t be getting injecting into your blood stream a la the classic 80s movie Innerspace but we think you’ll agree the level of detail in something so small is quite incredible.
Watch the video and tell us what you think!
