UP2
“It just works” may have been a slogan of bygone Apple years but the same could be applied to the UP! Plus 3D printer, certainly if the one we had in the Personalize office is anything to go by.
When others fail, we could trust the UP! Plus to keep running through even if it did make a mess of the prints, we even managed to run pasta through it… That’s not to say it didn’t have its drawbacks; calibration was often a little fiddly, as was the software and the spool is always tangling itself up, plus I was never that sold on the exclamation mark that followed UP.
Delta Micro Factory Corp. (PP3DP) hopes to tackle those quibbles with the release of the UP Plus 2 (see no exclamation mark).
The latest incarnation of the machine claims to be the first in its price category that offers an automatic platform calibration system, which includes platform levelling calibration, and platform height calibration.
PP3DP have continued to listen to their current crop of customers and have implemented the features they felt users most wanted to see, not just in the printer itself but the software too. The software includes: thin surface printing.
Pause printing at a certain height, shell printing on Mac and the standard ‘various bug fixes and other usability improvements.’
UP Plus 2 will be priced at $1649, and it will be available to preorder June 1st through Delta Micro (PP3DP)’s website and the company’s worldwide distributor network.
