RigidBot 3D printer
Not a week goes by at the moment without another 3D printer appearing on Kickstarter. Just as the most successful project on Kickstarter, 3Doolder, finished its funding period with a whopping $2,344,134 pledged of $30,000 goal, we’re treated to another project with Invent-A-Part Inc’s RigidBot 3D printer.
The RigidBot gets its name from its durability as demonstrated in their pitch video as Engineer Michael Lundwall and his partner are lowered on to the unit by a forklift truck. The 3D printer was launched yesterday asking for $30,000 of funding and within one day it was already fully funded. Once again proving Personalize’s theory that Kickstarter + 3D Printing = MASSIVE FUNDING.
With 0.1mm layer thickness, a 1.75mm filament diameter two different sized build areas the RigidBot certainly boasts some impressive statistics at a reasonably low starting price of $499. One thing that RigidBot certainly has going for it is the reputation of its parent company Invent-A-Part.
The Utah based rapid prototyping service have been working with industrial strength 3D printers for years now, providing customers with additive manufactured parts for their 3D designs. The knowledge they have developed over the years will no doubt have gone a long way into designing a good consumer product. We’re looking forward to seeing it action.
