BQ's Witbox Go!
Some big noises are coming out of TCT Show as many companies gear up to demonstrate their latest wares for the very first time. One launch that you won't hear much of is the UK debut of Red Dot Award winner from Spanish hardware firm BQ.
The reason you won't hear too much from the Witbox Go! is that it is, according to the press release, silent.
Martin Dyckhoff is the Managing Director of 3D Print World Aylesbury, which is the official UK retailer of BQ's Witbox range. Martin tells me that on a training day over in Madrid people were commenting that the machine is so silent users can take it out from sheds, garages, cupboards under the stairs and put it with other home appliances.
"It's so quiet you could use it as a sleep incentive for your children," says Martin. "Kids can set their design printing in the evening, go to bed and know that when they wake up a new toy will be waiting for them."
The Witbox Go! will make its UK debut at TCT Show on 3D Print World's stand (A60) having premiered at IFA 2017, in Berlin last month.
That Red Dot Design Award is well deserved it certainly fits well with modern home appliances, with a sleek white design. BQ's other line in hardware comes in the shape of Android smartphones, and BQ has applied that same science into the software of the Witbox Go! with an Android OS and Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, similar to that of many smartphones.
What this does mean is better functionality with smartphone devices, resulting in an easier setup than many machines on the market today. The press release claims that it only takes 15 minutes to initiate the first print once the machine is unboxed.
