OR Laser ORLAS Creator
OR Laser's new direct metal additive manufacturing platform, the ORLAS Creator
OR Laser will unveil its brand new direct metal additive manufacturing platform and ecosystem, developed and designed for small and medium enterprises, at formnext 2016.
The industrial laser system manufacturer hinted just last month that they would be revealing a new proposition for the metal AM industry.
At next week’s exhibition in Frankfurt, attendees, as well as the additive manufacturing industry, will be introduced to the new ORLAS Creator metal additive manufacturing machine.
Unlike other entrants into the AM sector, OR Laser will not be showcasing a development concept during its debut years ahead of roll out, but a fully working platform. The ORLAS Creator will be actively printing metal parts on the show floor. A reputable company for meeting its machine production commitments, and with a production strategy in place, OR Laser plans to begin shipping their new metal AM machine in 2017.
OR Laser began researching direct metal AM three years ago. The main focus quickly surrounded making the technology capabilities more accessible. Considerable market research revealed that metal AM had vast potential for SMEs, particularly in industries like jewellery, dentistry and medical sectors, as well as for smaller engineering firms and laboratories. Until now, this size of organisation has been priced out of the metal AM market with no commercially viable options available to them.
When developing the ORLAS Creator, small and medium organisations were the type of companies OR Laser had in mind. With an impressive and contemporary design, the ORLAS Creator is a contained hardware system. An innovative blade design ensures smooth operation and increased build speeds that produce parts up to 30% faster.
The OR Laser also utilises a cartridge materials handling system, making it safe to operate in smaller facilities. Filled cartridges can be supplied by OR Laser, but the company keenly recognises the need for an open material system, and operates accordingly.
Additionally, OR Laser has worked hard on developing the right operating ecosystem for the ORLAS Creator, with sophisticated software and interface developments. This ensures that no third party software is required to run the machine and eliminates additional costs of running.
A launch event for press will be held on 15th November, Messe Frankfurt, Hall 3.1, Booth E70 at 10.45am.
