XJet has today made the commercial launch of its Carmel line of metals and ceramics-supporting additive manufacturing machines.
The company held a press conference at formnext powered by TCT to officially present the Carmel 1400, which is located in Hall 3.1, Stand E20, and the Carmel 700. It also announced two senior appointments and the first USA-based customer of the Carmel 1400.
Hanan Gothait, XJet Founder and CEO, and Dror Donai, Chief Business Officer, led the press conference, taking the media present through the company’s patented NanoParticle Jetting technology and vision for the future. They were joined by Andreas Berkau, Head of AM Service Europe, Oerlikon, whose Citim subsidiary was last week announced as the first global customer of XJet’s new product.
Having spent years developing the NanoParticle Jetting technology, day one of formnext marked the company’s official transition ‘out of the lab and into the real commercial stage.’ XJet is aiming to transform the ceramic and metal additive manufacturing sectors, with its patents technology which sees powders used to print very fine layers of nanoparticle inks or fluids for the build and support materials. The Carmel 1400 machine promises high productivity, as 24 inkjet heads comprising of a total 12,228 nozzles working at the same time, depositing 222,000,000 droplets. Berkau explained that his company was enticed to purchase the platform because it 'opens the door to new applications' and because the team as well as the technology is 'fascinating.'
XJet believes its new products can be leveraged for implementation in a range of industries, but with the appointment of two new key figures at the company, it is clear to see which vertical markets are deemed to be the most suitable. As XJet reacts to a projected increased business activity, Haim Levi and Avi Cohen have joined the team as VP Manufacturing & Defense and VP Healthcare & Education, respectively. In the last year, XJet has increased its head count by 50% and expects another influx of new talent in 2018 – the company has confirmed Ili Ramon will also join the team as VP of Human Resources.
Meanwhile, Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI), a university-associated organisation and home to America Makes, was announced as the first adopter of the Carmel 1400 in North America. YBI has described the Carmel 1400 as ‘cutting edge technology’ and sees the platform helping to make the northeast Ohio region a focal point of AM activities.
“This is a very exciting period at XJet,” said Hanan Gothait, CEO and Founder of XJet. “Our hard work in developing a transformational AM solution is paying off and we have shipped our first two systems to Oerlikon Citim in Europe and YBI in North America. We are truly at a turning point in the company’s history. Until now, our many successes have been in the laboratory. Now we’re going out into the real world.”
