Over the last year, Formlabs has launched a string of new hardware from the smart Form Wash and Cure systems addressing the arduous post-processing step in 3D printing, to an entirely new piece of kit marking its first steps into selective laser sintering.
Demonstrating Fuse 1 parts for the first time in the UK at TCT Show 2017, Eduardo Torrealba, Lead Engineer on the new Formlabs Fuse 1 machine, spoke to TCT about why the stereolithography leader is now aiming to make SLS more accessible with an affordable (sub-$10,000), workshop-orientated system.
“We wanted to expand the options for our customers," Eduardo commented. "We already make stereolithography printers and while that’s great for a lot of applications, SLS adds an entirely new section of things that you can do, so small batch manufacturing, as well as end use prototypes and parts that go into moving assemblies.”
